Samsung continues to be a leading force in the smartwatch market, closely following Apple. Galaxy Watch7, now in its seventh generation, is priced around 2000 RMB. Chongdiantou has recently obtained and extensively analyzed the official magnetic wireless charger for this series.
This Samsung magnetic wireless charger is designed in an all-black color and integrates a USB-C cable. The charging pad is a small, flat, round shape, precisely sized for the watch. The USB-C connector is longer than usual, with a curved transition on the sides and a matte finish. The metal shell of the USB-C plug is not molded as one piece, and the end is reinforced to prevent bending. The charging pad is small and flat, with a concave design on the top surface for better Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 charging.
Chongdiantou has recently disassembled the original magnetic wireless charger for the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 . It was revealed that the wireless charging chip used is Maxic MT5806, a highly integrated, high-performance wireless charging transmitter chip based on magnetic induction.
MT5806 Overview
MT5806 is compliant with the latest WPC Qi (V2.0) wireless charging specifications and supports fast charging protocols like PD, UFCs, FCP, SCP, and QC. It operates within 4V to 20V input range and delivers up to 15W output. With a 32-bit ARM-M0 core, 4KB SRAM, 32KB MTP, and interfaces like I2C and UART, it provides powerful processing capabilities and flexible programming options. Standard firmware includes reference applications for easy custom feature development.
MT5806 integrates independent high-frequency and low-frequency oscillators, making it ideal for low-power and cost-sensitive applications. An internal high-frequency PLL, combined with an external crystal, generates high-precision clock and PWM signals. Additionally, the chip offers flexible dead-time control and phase shift generation, enhancing EMI performance.
MT5806 is embedded with various protections, such as over-voltage protection (OVP), over-current protection (OCP), under-voltage protection (UVP), and over-temperature protection (OTP). It also includes an embedded dynamic power limiting (DPL) comparator to prevent the IC from entering under-voltage lockout (UVLO) when input power cannot meet output demand. If the VDD voltage drops below the DPL threshold, the chip will reduce output power accordingly to protect the system from entering UVLO. MT5806 is available in FCQFN24L package.
Maxic is committed to ongoing optimization, upgrades, and innovation in the products, aiming to deliver better solutions to the customers.
